The classic counting book by Bill Martin Jr. and Michael Sampson comes alive as a long-form music video. The text, sung to a spirited calypso-style rhythm, makes a perfect match for Lois Ehlert's vibrant illustrations. The music is so sing-along catchy that kids may spend more time shimmying than paying attention to the action on the screen (not exactly a bad thing). The three other book adaptations on the compilation, two of them focusing on a wizard who's fond of spouting mathematic trivia, are decidedly less energetic. But they also make it a great DVD for sharing: There's something for both the preschooler just learning to count and his minutiae-loving older sibling.—Ages 2 to 6
