Destination: Bouchon Bakery

Chef Thomas Keller
Yountville, California;
New York City; and Las Vegas

Details: Keller creates coveted dishes at The French Laundry, but his signature oysters and pearls don't come cheap. Luckily, his Parisian-style bakeries offer budget-friendly sophistication with gourmet sandwiches and salads.

Best dishes: parents: French ham and Gruyère sandwich; peeky-toe crab and shellfish salad (New York City only). kids: CB and J (cashew butter and homemade apricot jam) on toasted brioche.

Good to know: Beat the lunch rush by arriving before noon or going in the late afternoon. If it's too crowded, the grab-and-go sandwiches are perfect for impromptu picnics.
