Mango Lassi

Serves 6 to 8

  • ¾ cup peeled and chopped mango
  • ¾ cup low-fat yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice
  • ¼ cup mango sorbet
  • 9 to 10 ice cubes

Puree the mango with the yogurt and sugar in a blender. Add the milk, lemon juice, and sorbet and blend until smooth. Add 1/3 cup cold water and the ice and blend to the desired consistency. Pour into a tall glass or two small glasses. Serve with a straw.

Chai Tea

Offer the adults Tazo iced tea ($11 for 64 ounces, cooking.com), Taj Mahal beer ($3 a bottle, finewinehouse.com), or chai tea, a spiced tea treat, often served in Bombay in the afternoons or on Sundays, when it is always offered to visitors. We've found a preblended mix that is pretty darn delicious and a real time-saver: Organic Tazo Chai, available from cooking.com ($11 for two 32-ounce containers), can be mixed with equal parts vanilla soy milk, then served over ice to create a refreshing beverage. Large portions can be mixed ahead of time in a pitcher for easy pouring.
