Think Beyond the BrushTalk to kids about the many different ways of making art. Start by having each child step in a pan of paint and walk down a long strip of paper. Then let them experiment by rolling hula hoops and dragging sticks dipped in paint down the paper.

For eight kids, you'll need:

Kraft paper cut into eight 12-foot-long strips ($21 for a 200-foot roll, Office Depot); eight gallons of Crayola washable paint ($22 a gallon, Office Depot); eight disposable lasagna pans ($2 for two, polsteins.com); eight three-foot-long sticks; and three hula hoops ($15 for three, qualityrecreation.com).
