When a Palestinian girl grows up splitting her time between Saudi Arabia and the U.S., has her first haircut in Paris, and knows her way around London, Vienna, and Cairo by her teens, it's not surprising that she ends up raising her own kids as global citizens, too. As a child, Salam MacGregor was always on the move with her travel-obsessed parents. Now, living in Austin, Texas, she has likewise tried to introduce her two kids—daughter Maya, 8, and son Mazzy, 7—to different countries and cultures. "Maya loves making new friends, even when they don't speak the same language," she says. "I truly believe she'll be an ambassador someday." So for her daughter's most recent birthday, MacGregor, the founder of a line of kids' party-supply kits called Once upon a Box, piloted a whirlwind trip around the world—with stops for singing, crafting, and cake along the way.
