To create a cranial shape, bake your favorite store-bought cake mix in an oven-safe metal mixing bowl (about eight inches in diameter, with a round bottom). Use a pastry bag with a 3/8-inch tip (or a resealable plastic bag with a snipped corner) to create the squiggles.
For the cake
- 1 18-ounce box cake mix
- 1 oven-safe round metal mixing bowl
- 1 15-ounce container frosting
- food coloring (optional)
- Prepare the cake batter according to the package directions. Coat the bowl with nonstick spray and pour 2 1/2 cups of batter into it.
- Bake at 350° F for 55 minutes, let cool for 10 minutes, then remove the cake and let it cool completely.
- Squeeze the frosting out in S shapes across the top.
