Thumbprint Pictures

These cards are perfect for party invitations or thank-you cards—or just write spooky jokes or ghost stories inside and send them to friends and family.

MATERIALS

  • Finger paint in black, white, purple, green, and orange
  • Paper plate
  • Colored cards or construction paper
  • Thin black pen
  • Paint brush
  1. Put dollops of paint onto a paper plate. Have kids dip their thumb or finger into it and then press onto the card.
    • For a spider, make a black horizontal thumbprint.
    • For a bat, make a black vertical thumbprint.
    • For pumpkins, either make three orange vertical thumbprints for a large one or one orange horizontal or vertical ones for the small ones.
    • For a witch, make a green vertical thumbprint.
    • For Dracula, make a purple vertical thumbprint.
    • For a cat, make a black horizontal thumbprint for the body and a black fingerprint for the head.
  2. After the paint has dried completely, use a black pen to add lines, legs, ears or other markings to complete the shapes.
  3. Dip the blunt end of a paintbrush into white paint and press onto the shapes to make the eyes. After the paint dries, add the pupils in the middle of the eyes.
