Mahar's tricks for livening up kids' rooms and cutting clutter

By Jane Margolies

Glass Canisters
Corral Odds & Ends

Art supplies and Emmett's collections of rocks and shells are displayed in canisters. "I like glass jars because they're clear—plastic gets too cloudy. Emmett hasn't broken one yet."

Folders
Archive Masterpieces

Mahar set up a metal flat file, where Emmett stores his artwork folders, labeling drawers by subject (trees, trucks, etc.). She has her son practice writing by signing his drawings.

Plants
Add Some Green
