$500, Chariot Carriers for store locations

Just because you're now a parent of two doesn't mean your strolls have to be restricted to the smooth terrain of shopping malls. The Cougar 2 can handle just about any environment—so long as you purchase the appropriate conversion kit (there are five, ranging in price from $50 to $210), you can go beyond strolling and hike, bike, run, or even cross-country ski with your kids along for the ride.

testers said: One 3-year-old fell so in love with "the race car" that he insisted on testing it repeatedly—faster each time. His "driver" loved the huge, covered rear storage compartment, as well as the amazing suspension.

Graco DuoGlider LXI

Graco DuoGlider LXI
$200, Graco

The DuoGlider is perfect for running errands on crowded sidewalks and through narrow store aisles, because the width is equivalent to that of a single stroller. The huge bottom storage basket can hold a surprising amount of groceries, and as a bonus, there are cup holders for each of the kids and the parent. Plus, the elevated backseat provides a nice upgrade over those found in standard front-to-back models.

testers said: Our toddler didn't mind giving up the front seat to his baby brother, because he didn't have to miss out on the view from his higher back chair—it actually made him feel like he was in control of the ride. And his nanny oohed and aahed over the one-handed easy-lock folding.

width: 17 inches

Combi Twin Savvy LX

Combi Twin Savvy LX
$299, Combi

Sure, the Twin Savvy LX is a great no-fuss side-by-side stroller: multiposition, deep-reclining seats for ultimate kid comfort; two large baskets for storage; removable trays with cup holders; and easy-maneuvering swivel wheels. But what made it stand out was its unique trifolding mechanism—it folds up, then into itself on both sides, until it's standing on its own at just 17 inches wide.

testers said: One mom raved about the Combi's intuitive design: "While it certainly isn't feature-loaded like others, when you're struggling with two kids, the ease-of-use is much appreciated," she said. She also noted that it didn't feel as flimsy as models in the same price range.

Mountain Buggy Urban Double
Best All-Terrain
Mountain Buggy Urban Double
$729, Mountain Buggy Strollers

If you're known to go from slick-floored shopping malls to bumpy wooded trails in a single bound, and so versatility is key, the Urban Double is for you. Made of hard-wearing doubled fabric and an aluminum alloy frame, this stroller also has 12-inch pneumatic (air-filled) tires and shock absorbers to keep kids riding smoothly.

testers said: One set of parents put the Urban Double through the wringer twice to test its durability: up and down stone steps in Venice, Italy, then over dirty, tree-root-strewn trails in northern Michigan. They gushed about its stellar performance in both urban and rural environments, but noted that the weight of the stroller caused a bit of a headache (or backache) at the airport.

weight: 45 pounds
width: 29 inches
