Teutonia t-200 series with T-stroller Seat
$650 with T-stroller seat, $875 with T-tario 32 infant car seat, Teutonia
Overall score: 3. It's a great-quality stroller, but the size results in an unwieldy stroller.
Value: 3. The stroller will last a long time, but you're not getting anything you're not paying for.
The basics: 30.7 pounds. Good from 3 months old to 50 pounds. 24 inches at the widest point when it's unfolded. Collapses to 35 by 24 by 11 inches.
The extras: The German-engineered Teutonia is made from sturdy aluminum and features an advanced drum braking mechanism with a hand brake. Parents can mix and match seat and frame options for a custom stroller to suit their needs. The water-resistant canopy and exterior fabric offer UV 50–plus protection. The seat cover is fully removable and machine washable. Plus, the company offers a three-year warranty.
Folding and storage: The t-200 is a breeze to fold and unfold, particularly for its size. However, to do so requires the removal of the seat, bassinet, or car seat. Once it's folded, even without a seat it's still very large and difficult to store.
Pros: The Teutonia showcases the genius of German-made products. The stroller feels indestructible. The solid frame and all-wheel suspension mean that this stroller can be taken anywhere. It rolls well over cracks, grass, and rocky ground. It maneuvers great. Plus, parents appreciated its stylish seating and designer fabrics. Parent-testers were pleasantly surprised with how fast the stroller collapses once the seat is removed, even despite the stroller's size. One urban tester said that it was the first stroller she felt she could take with her in a taxi. "Once I grabbed the car seat, it was easy enough to put it in the trunk," she said, warning, "But it took up the whole trunk of the cab." Parents were also pleased with the car seat, which they reported is comfortable and durable and quickly goes from the stroller frame to a car and back. Parents also appreciated the hand brake, saying that it gave them a great feeling of control when handling the stroller.
Cons: The weight and size of the Teutonia, like that of similar models, are big drawbacks. "It's a great stroller, but if you're short on space to store it or if you're living in a place where you'll have to take stairs, it's not a great option," said one urban mom. Our suburban parents with larger cars had no problem, but others felt that it didn't leave much room for anything else in the trunk. "And I definitely wouldn't be comfortable traveling with this one," said one parent. Plus, at more than 30 pounds, the Teutonia is heavier than even comparable strollers. "Even with two people, it was heavy on stairs," said one mom.
Who will love this stroller? Families that spend a lot of time outside walking around, have plenty of car and home storage space, and aren't dependent of public transportation.
