Sage Baby's Favorite Things
Seven things that make eco-living easy for Francesca Olivieri and Susan Gluck-Pappajohn
By Rory Evans

- Safer Paint
"Many companies now offer no- or low-VOC paints, like Benjamin Moore's EcoSpec, Yolo, and Anna Sova, in a huge array of colors," Gluck-Pappajohn says.

- Stain Trick
"My grandmother gave me a great tip on getting stains out of clothes without using chemicals," Olivieri says. "Pour boiling water on the spot as soon as possible and it comes out like magic. You don't even need soap."

- Green Clean
"Organic skin care is an easy way to decrease toxic exposure," Gluck-Pappajohn says. "I like Vedababy—it's expensive, but so pure and delicious-smelling."

- Resources
"Whenever I have questions, I check with The Green Guide or the Natural Resources Defense Council," Olivieri says. "For instance, the dentist wanted to put sealants on my kid's teeth, so I e-mailed to ask about their safety."

- Fresh Air
"I keep air purifiers in the bedrooms," says Gluck-Pappajohn. "I like models with medical-grade HEPA filters to reduce allergens, and carbon filters to reduce fumes and off-gassing."

- Less Plastic
"I switched to glass bottles for our third child," Olivieri says. "I prefer drinking out of glass, so I assumed she would, too. We haven't broken a single one."

- Food Smarts
"The Environmental Working Group's list of produce likely to contain pesticides is helpful in figuring out what's particularly important to buy organic," Gluck-Pappajohn says.
