Frames that are all one color provide unity, regardless of how diverse the contents are.


consider bright outlines

Don't shy away from bold-colored frames. You can also play with a family of colors—for instance, varying shades of blue.

match mattes

Use the same matte board for all the frames.

use what you have

If you already have a variety of frames, spray-paint them all one color.

decide on composition

Before hanging your frames, play with the arrangement on the floor. Use the largest image as a focal point—not necessarily a center—and surround it with the smaller frames. Keep the spacing equal and tight (no more than two inches apart).
