The Piecemeal Puzzle

To give your wall dimension, cut graphic art into equal sections, frame each piece, and hang them in a geometric pattern. Any bold image with a strong silhouette will work.

select an image

Large illustrations with distinct outlines work best: maps, posters, fabric, or images from kids' books. Copy shops can enlarge almost any image.

make the frames work

Simple frames with slim edges in neutral colors allow the artwork to be the most prominent element.

Before you cut up the image, overlay empty frames on top of it until you find an arrangement you like. (Don't be afraid to play with asymmetry.)
