What was once Amanda and Andy Schuon's home office became the nursery when their daughter, Layla, was born three years ago. But despite the hip, modernist crib and changing table—real splurges—and colorful wall decals, they couldn't shake the feeling that the room was a hodgepodge: one part Romper Room, one part OfficeMax. "It looked like an afterthought," says Amanda.
