Time-Saving Websites

Sure, the Web can be a big time-waster (gofugyourself.com, anyone?), but if used wisely, it can be a great time-saver. Check out these 12 sites every busy parent should know about.

FlightAware

Avoid spending mind-numbing hours in airport gift shops by checking FlightAware's real-time updates of arrivals and departures. The site will also help you pin down flight numbers for tracking.

Google 411

Say you're in a car full of kids and in desperate need of a drugstore. If you call (800) GOOG-411 and say "drugstore," Google can either connect you with the nearest store or text you the phone number, address, and a link to Google Maps.

Shopping

Frucall

The next time you see a car seat, a portable DVD player, or another big-ticket item in a store, call (888) 363-7822, text 37811, or surf Frucall to find out whether you can get it cheaper online.

Amazon.com Subscribe & Save

Go to Amazon to order a regular delivery of more than 22,000 nonperishables (like diapers) and get a 15 percent discount plus free shipping. No more late-night runs to the store.

Sizeasy

Wondering if that cool new digital camera you covet will fit easily into your svelte handbag? Enter the dimensions at Sizeasy and compare its size to familiar objects, like an iPod or a deck of cards.

Activities

GoCityKids

Serving major U.S. cities, GoCityKids is a guide to the best kid-friendly events and activities in your area. Sign up for the weekly e-mail newsletter and you'll never be at a loss for what to do on the weekend.

Personal Calendar

Oh, Don't Forget

Enter a reminder to pick up your daughter from her playdate and Oh, Don't Forget will alert you (or your more forgetful husband) with a text message at the appropriate time.

30 Boxes

This elegant and easy-to-use online calendar is simple yet powerful. Not only does it allow you to plan your day, maintain your to-do list, and remember your in-laws' birthdays, but you can share your calendar events with friends and avoid double-booking playdates.

Photography and Video

Flickr

Get a free Flickr account (the site lets you store and share your photos on the Web), and then visit the "Upload by E-mail" page to learn how to get your pictures to automatically appear on your Flickr page.

Snipshot

Snipshot is the easiest way to crop and clean up the cell-phone photos you snap of your son's playground antics. You can save the photos to your computer or your Flickr account (see above).

MediaFire

Want to share a video of your vacation with the grandparents, but it's too big to e-mail as an attachment? Send it to them by linking to the file through MediaFire, which accepts files up to a whopping 100 MB.
