Bake Sale Guide
Gretchen Holt and her husband, Larry Witt, share tips on how to raise money for Cookies for Kids' Cancer.

- pick your spot
"Choose a location for your sale that has steady traffic," says Witt. Think schools, farmers' markets, offices, soccer games—"anyplace where there may be a large number of hungry people."

- spread the word
"Talk with everyone you know about what you're doing and why," says Holt. "We have yet to hear of anyone who hasn't helped when asked—but you have to ask."

- think details
Set a date that takes advantage of upcoming holidays, and divide up your team's responsibilities. Don't forget signs and packaging.

- keep it simple
Limit your baked goods to easy-to-make cookies and cupcakes. "Go for regional favorites and classics," says Witt. "Chocolate-chip cookies always do well, no matter where you live."

- not a baker?
Starting this holiday season, you can support the cause by buying gourmet cookies through the website to give as gifts. Cookies for Kids' Cancer ships nationwide.
