Mother of Luke, 5, and Leo, 6 months
In Ethiopia almost half the deaths of children under 5 are caused by waterborne illnesses. And when you really look at it, you see that these children are dying of a very solvable problem. We take it for granted in a developed country that we have clean water to drink. But in Ethiopia, mostly it's the women and the children—the girls, especially—who have to walk between three and six hours a day to fetch clean water.
About Volvic + UNICEF Partnership
The partnership is working to build wells in these communities. It has organized this great system: If you buy one liter of Volvic water, it will bring 10 liters of clean water to these communities. I think the way we react to children around the world always comes back to us. Becoming a mother led me to want to give back more, and I hope that I'm teaching my children that we can't just think about ourselves.
