Fourth of July Weekend Menu Planning

My family and I have been lucky enough to use my sister-in-law's house in East Hampton on weekends while she is working in L.A. We've been having a fantastic time, but my poor planning is resulting in way too many grocery-store runs at the expense of beach and backyard time.

So this weekend, I have a plan! I mined my favorite food blogs and sites to get dinner inspiration (I can wing it for breakfast and lunch). I'm going to order groceries and have them delivered right to the beach house? And then I'll hit the local farm stands for fruits and veggies.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Friday
Grilled skirt steak, from a recipe in an upcoming issue of Cookie.

Saturday
I'll either make Ina Garten's barbecued chicken or basil chicken breast with grilled balsamic peaches from the Amateur Gourmet. Last time I made this (see above), it was a big hit.

Sunday
If they have scapes at the farm stand, I'll try Dorie Greenspan's garlic-scape pesto with some kind of pasta. If not, I'll make my grandmother's linguine with clams.

I also need to test out a recipe for peanut-butter-parfait cups for the site, and I might try the roasted rhubarb that I saw, again, over on Dorie Greenspan's blog.

Next week, I'll let you know how it all turns out.
