My husband recently came back from a business trip to the United Arab Emirates with a traditional, white long sleeved dress and a crocheted cap for our two year-old son, Lex. He bought it in Sharjah, a small emirate an hour outside of Dubai, in a little clothing store he found while exploring the towns' small streets and alleys. He said the shop was next to some stalls selling spices and local household goods, that it wasn't a touristy place at all. But what could be more touristy than bringing home a local costume from a far away land? In any case, he clearly couldn't resist. The cap was a bit too small but the gown fit Lex perfectly. The best part is that each time we put it on him he starts dancing around.
