Reader Question: Unbreakable Dishware
"I'm on the hunt for something other than white porcelain dishes. The only problem is, I need it to be unbreakable (have a very curious 3-year-old) and easy to maintain. Any ideas?" Anne, Kansas City
London-based design maverick Tom Dixon has applied his mastery of clean
lines and clever angles to this gorgeous low-maintenance, low-impact
tableware. These reusable plastic plates, cups, and bowls are made from a
bamboo-resin blend (80% bamboo) that is fully biodegradable, so there's no
guilt in opting to protect the porcelain. And with an earthy mottled
texture, the pieces feel far more sophisticated than the glossy, graphic
melamine options dominating the market. They look good, you feel good. It's
a win-win.

That is great for picnics. At home, I use Buffalo China, restaurant style, it's pretty tough and doesn't slide off the table or flip easily. The large peices are too heavy for little ones to carry though. I love the modern designs, but I'm always drawn to the classics. I even let my kids use vintage china I buy at tag sales.
I have been using the Go Sling by puj. It is really nice and simple. Very compact and keeps baby close and snuggly but leaves both of my hands free. It isn't a pouch sling, much better. My baby is used to being held on my hip and that is what the puj sling helps facilitate. It is like having a third arm. A recent experience at the end of a long afternoon of errands bodes quite well for the usability and practicality of the puj sling. My sweet baby girl was so patient with me and came along for my errands. As the evening was wearing on I had one more stop to make and I knew she was hungry and tired, despite her still giving me adorable smiles. Though she rode in the cart on the previous errands I knew that she would do better and be more comfortable during this last stop if I held her close to me. I knew that the puj sling would be perfect for that. Everything worked great, baby was happy, I got my groceries, and we headed home for bathtime. I highly recommend anything by Puj. www.pujbaby.com
