This brilliant chocolate party is the brainchild of San Francisco-based stylist and entrepreneur, Anna Campbell. (You may remember Anna's Nesting house tour here.) Anna and her husband Erik hosted friends and family for an afternoon open house to commemorate the blessing of their new baby Thad. This low-prep, high-impact party was perfect for busy and sleep deprived new parents. Let's dissect this party and see how she did it!
First, Anna purchased brown gift boxes from the art store Flax. (If you can't find something similar, you could easily cover regular boxes with brown paper.) Each box was then turned upside down creating museum-like platforms to display the chocolate spread.
Second, Anna purchased all kinds of gourmet chocolate from the local confiserie Miette. Splurge here and find a specialty gourmet chocolate shop--this is where the majority of the budget for your party will go. Buy a variety of chocolates, looking specifically for different flavors, shapes and textures. Don't forget the gourmet malt balls (our favorite)! Besides the candy, you could also serve chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies, or even hot cocoa. To keep it low-maintenance, delegate the cake and cookie making projects to a willing friend or new auntie.
For the third and final step, Anna hung these amazing balloon sculptures from the ceiling of her loft continuing with the modern feel. You can order something similar from a balloon and party store or if you wanted to tackle it yourself, sometimes balloon sculpture kits are sold in Anna's shop food+flower+style.
Follow these three steps and voila! You'll have yourself a low-maintenance and stylish fete.
