I know now never to bother arranging fresh flowers before my friends Adam and Simone come to dinner. Simone, who is an artist and does the flowers for Del Posto and Babbo in her spare time, always shows up with some showstopping arrangement like this one made from dahlias, basil flowers, and a Kings Pride rose or two. Not only did the flowers seem to pull together every single color in my house, they came in this dramatic 6-pound-10-ounce tomato can that she salvaged from a restaurant's garbage. How cool is that?
