One of the things that drew the couple together was their shared love of New York City and all its culture, from the ballet at Lincoln Center to the little neighborhood playgrounds. They have a summerhouse in the Hamptons now, too—-a big step, Turlington says: "When I used to have shoots out there, I didn't care how late it was—I would always come back to the city." They are also both extremely family-oriented, and count their siblings as their best friends. Holidays are especially convenient for the grandparents: In a kind of Pride and Prejudice twist, Turlington's older sister, Erin, is now married to Burns's younger brother, Brian, and they are expecting a baby boy (to join Erin's two boys from a previous marriage). "We can't wait to see him," Turlington says. "I'm so curious how this will work out genetically. Will he look exactly like my kids?"

In any case, this baby will be just the newest plus-one in the extended family's vacations together. "Everyone comes out and spends a month with us in the summer," Turlington says. A house that full of spouses, siblings, in-laws, and cousins, she reports, "is definitely a lot. But it's also a lot of fun."
