Quick Skin Fixes: Wrinkles
INJECTIONS
Botox freezes muscles to diminish fine wrinkles, especially on the forehead and eyes, and to prevent the facial crinkling that creates them, says Los Angeles dermatologist Ava Shamban. As for already etched-in lines, they need filling instead of freezing. The best filler choice, says Jaliman, is Cosmoderm, a form of human collagen: "It works really well for plumping up creases on the forehead and filling in crow's-feet." With both types of injections, results are instant but impermanent; plan to book another appointment in about six months.
COST
Botox, about $500 per area; Cosmoderm, about $500 per syringe (most people need one or two).
WHAT OUR STAFFERS SAY
"I got Botox in my forehead and Cosmoderm around my eyes and mouth. I got the heavy-duty numbing cream; the area under my nose was most sensitive. Afterward, I had no soreness and such minimal bruising (and slight scabs at the incision points) that when I went to work the next day, no one said anything. I stayed out of the sun for 10 days; in two weeks, I looked smooth all over. My husband and friends all commented. I'm extremely pleased. Ideally I'd go four times a year, but realistically I can afford twice."
