"Every girl likes braids," says Sapong.
The ProcessLoosely braid three sections of hair: one on each side and one in back. Secure them with elastics. Use bobby pins to arrange the braids around the head. (Sapong crisscrossed the two side braids on top and pinned the back braid to one side.) Forget precision: Make it "so it's not so perfect," he says.
The AccessoryThe artful punch line: a crown of colorful pom-poms to keep stray hairs off the face. Large wool-bead hair pins, $7 each, Atsuyo et Akiko, Pomme, AtsuyoEtAkiko.com for stores.
