Who says that once you have kids, you have to settle for a sensible, boring hairdo? The coolest looks right now—top knot, blunt bob, and bangs—happen to be perfect for busy moms: They're flattering without a lot of fuss, versatile (which cancels out "boring"), and, paired with a dash of makeup, sexy enough to turn heads.

A fixture at the fall runway shows, the top knot is a modern take on the been-there, done-that bun. Rub castor-oil balm between your hands and smooth your hair tight to the crown. Flip your head over and pull it into a high ponytail. Tease the pony slightly and work a dab of smoothing cream through it. Wrap it around itself to create a strong shape (like this "apple") on top of your head. Secure the end with a few bobby pins and place hairpins around the perimeter. For eyes as striking as this hairstyle, make-up artist Denise Markey traced dark brown liner along the inner rims and brushed pewter shadow all the way around.
