The Adventure: Reykjavík, Iceland
It'll be a good long time before you can take a transcontinental flight again without worrying about a crying, pooping baby in your lap. Just under six hours from New York City, Reykjavík is an otherworldly (yet easily navigable) land of glaciers, geysers, and Technicolor cottages.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
Reykjavík feels like a cross between a small village and a modern European city. Almost everyone speaks English, and the locals are so familiar that the phone book is alphabetical by first name. Spend the days whale-watching and stocking up on hip souvenirs on the main drag, Laugavegur.

Icelandair
