Ardoer Art Camp
Garderen, the Netherlands
Why we love it: Just an hour's drive from Amsterdam, Ardoer Art Camp has little to do with making art. It's about living in art—specifically, in dome tents of varying heights, designed by Dutch artist Dré Wapenaar. The kids can pretend the tents are spaceships to be commandeered, while parents will appreciate their camping comforts. A ground-level communal tent is equipped with a small kitchen and living area. Inside the elevated bedroom tents, which rock soothingly in the wind, are hardwood floors, real beds, and windows that let everyone see the trees and stars. When your troop tires of battling imaginary intergalactic bad guys or watching the real-life wild boars that roam the surrounding forest, they can infiltrate more-familiar territories, such as the pool and the playground, also on site.
Details: From $15 a night per person.
