Ballard

Two words best describe Ballard: quirky and chic. The old Scandinavian fishing neighborhood used to be a separate city and has always maintained a strong identity of its own (as the numerous "Free Ballard" bumper stickers attest). Get a taste of what it would be like to live there by strolling down brick-lined Ballard Avenue and bustling Market Street. Pop in and out of shops. Later, soak up nature at the beach or at nearby shipping locks and the fish ladder.
